Judo classes are taught by Sensei Ryan Dean and Master Chuck Melges. Both instructors are National Level Coaches with USA Judo, and love to help others learn this great martial art.
Benefits of Judo Classes
Our Judo classes prepare students to take what they learn on the mat to become successful in all areas of life. Judo encompasses mind, body, and spirit working together. Not just for personal benefit, but to better serve the community.
By learning to challenge yourself, and push your physical limits, you learn to accomplish anything you desire in life.
Judo has grown into one of the world’s largest sports endeavors. It’s included in the Olympics and international competitions.
The techniques have evolved into an advanced martial art that is both refined and effective. The organized competition aspect naturally causes each athlete to strive for constant improvement.
Good sportsmanship is always required. As a result, judo produces athletes of fine character.
The Moral Code We Teach
The Judo moral code is a set of principles set forth by Jigoro Kano, the Japanese founder of the sport.
- Courtesy
- Courage
- Friendship
- Honesty
- Honor
- Modesty
- Respect
- Self-Control
It’s a code we integrate into every Judo class we teach. With practice, these principles develop into an internal discipline and skill set that carries into everyday life.
Judo Classes Teach Vital Skills
In Judo, you have to give yourself to somebody else in order to learn the technique. In return, they do the same for you.
While competition is an aspect of the martial arts, you must also learn to take care of your partner, keep them safe, and treat them with respect. Your own personal development depends on it!
